Why supplement Astaxanthin?
Astaxanthin is often referred to as the “king of carotenoids”. Astaxanthin is 550 times more potent than catechins in green tea and also more effective than vitamin E. Therefore, its intake in the diet is particularly important for protecting the skin from external influences and sun damage. And what is its power?
- Astaxanthin crosses the blood-brain barrier
- Removes more free radicals
- Strongly absorbs UVB radiation
- 12pt;">Reduces DNA damage
- Does not have pro-oxidant effects
What are Omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids needed for?
Every human cell has been adapted to take unsaturated fatty acids. Our body can synthesize most of the fats we need from the foods we eat, but omega-3 fatty acids cannot be produced by the body. We are dependent on getting them from our diet, which is very poor in these healthy fats for most of the population. The key components of Omega-3 fatty acids are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which contribute to normal heart function. Here they are in the optimal ratio of 2:1.
Why supplement Omega-3 fatty acids?
Krill oil is an excellent source of well-absorbable omega-3 fatty acids. The high content of these fatty acids has a positive effect on reducing triglyceride levels, high levels of which in the blood are the main risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Thanks to this, it contributes to heart health and optimal blood pressure.
- Each dose contains 1000 mg omega-3 MK
- The ratio in each dose is: EPA 135 mg : 60 mg DHA
- Cardiovascular system
- Brain health
- Immune system
- Protects eyesight
- Contributes to healthy bones and teeth
- Together with astaxanthin protects the skin from UVB radiation
What causes omega 3 fatty acid deficiency
Omega-3 fatty acid deficiency impairs cognitive functions such as memory, ability multitasking and speed of thinking. In children, it hinders physical and mental development, and low levels of DHA are also associated with significant weakened immunity. There may also be a decrease in energy, as fatty acids are a very concentrated source of energy. Dry skin. Lack of energy. Skin problems. Weakened immunity. Fatigue. Decreased cognitive abilities (poor concentration and memory). style="font-size: 12pt;">Cold extremities.
Why don't we report the measurement of the anisidine and TOTOX values?
The quality of oils, including fish oils, is commonly assessed by two values: anisidine values and TOTOX values. These values measure the extent to which the oil has oxidized, which means how much it has been exposed to the damaging effects of oxygen. Anisidine values measures how much the oil has oxidized over time - this is especially important for determining the "aging" of the oil during storage. However, this method does not work reliably with krill oil because it contains substances that distort the results, such as astaxanthin.
TOTOX value is a combination of two types of oxidation measurements – primary oxidation (peroxide value) and secondary oxidation (anisidine value). It shows the overall degree of oxidation of the oil. However, due to the specific composition of krill oil, such as phospholipids and antioxidants, this measurement method is also not accurate. These values do not indicate the quality of krill oil.
Why choose krill oil?
- Omega 3 in krill is bound to phospholipids =better bioavailability in the body.
- The purest source of Omega-3 fatty acids.
- Krill oil contains choline, reduces homocysteine levels.
- Tested heavy metals
- The most sustainable source of omega-3 fatty acids.
- Naturally rich in astaxanthin.
What is krill?
Krill are small crustaceans they resemble shrimp in appearance. They are found in the colder waters of the ocean and primarily serve as a food source for other larger animals, such as - whales, seals, penguins, squid and fish. Despite its tiny size, krill is an indispensable part of the food chain. Krill oil also has the advantage of being the most sustainable source of omega-3 fatty acids.
What is the difference between omega-3 fatty acids and krill oil?
Krill oil is considered the purest source of omega-3 fatty acids and, thanks to its naturally occurring astaxanthin, contributes to brain and eye health. The omega-3s in krill are bound to phospholipids, which stabilize omega-3s, EPA and DHA, and increase their bioavailability. In addition, the choline contained in krill oil contributes to normal homocysteine and fat metabolism and to maintaining normal liver function.
