In South America, Yerba Maté is called the "drink of the Gods" and will win you over with its slightly bitter taste, which is the work of the saponins that Yerba contains. Since many of us need to stimulate the brain every day and support mental performance, Yerba is suitable for daily drinking. One dose of Yerba (2-3 tablespoons) can be steeped repeatedly throughout the day, and drunk while working or studying. Thanks to its properties, Yerba mate has gained popularity all over the world, including Europe, where it can serve as a suitable alternative to coffee.
How to prepare Yerba?
Yerba can be steeped several times without significantly losing the effects of Yerba. Usually we make up to 6 new infusions for one dose of Yerba. Therefore, it is not necessary to give a "new Yerba" for each additional calabash. If you are sensitive to caffeine, we recommend starting with one tablespoon and then adding more. For the traditional preparation of Yerba Mate you will need calabaza and bombilla, which you can also purchase in our e-shop. If you don't have a kettle that can be set to the temperature, then feel free to get a thermometer.
1. If you are a beginner, 2-3 tablespoons will be more than enough. Experienced users can use up to 4-5 tablespoons.
2. Pour a little water into the calabash to wet the Yerba leaves. Meanwhile, bring the water to 70 to 80 degrees.
3. Once the water is ready and the Yerba leaves in the calabash are wet, pour the kettle over the Yerba in the calabash to the brim.
4. Let it steep for at least 3 minutes and then you can sip it throughout the day through a bombilla.
5. Yerba can be watered repeatedly until it loses its taste.
