In South America, Yerba Maté is often called the “drink of the gods” and will win you over with its slightly bitter taste thanks to the saponins it contains. Since many of us need to stimulate the brain and enhance mental performance daily, Yerba is suitable for everyday drinking. A single dose (2–3 tablespoons) can be refilled throughout the day, making it perfect for work or study. Due to its properties, Yerba Maté has gained global popularity—even in Europe—as a great coffee alternative.

How to prepare Yerba?

You can pour water over Yerba multiple times without losing its effects. One portion can yield up to 6 infusions. You don’t need a new portion each time. If you’re sensitive to caffeine, start with one tablespoon. For traditional preparation, you’ll need a calabash and a bombilla, which you can also find in our e-shop. If you don’t have a kettle with temperature control, we recommend getting a thermometer.

1. For beginners, 2–3 tablespoons are enough. Experienced users can use 4–5 tablespoons.

2. Pour in a little water to moisten the leaves. In the meantime, heat the water to 70–80°C (158–176°F).

3. Once ready, fill the calabash to the top with hot water.

4. Let it steep for at least 3 minutes, then drink throughout the day using a bombilla.

5. You can refill the Yerba until it loses its taste.
