Basmati is a rice with typical long grains, which has its own specific aroma and nutty taste. Our basmati rice is also in BIO quality and in a brown, "natural" version.
Basmati is the noblest variety of rice, which is grown in the fields of the foothills of the Himalayas in Pakistan, thanks to which the rice is irrigated directly with water from the glaciers. The word basmati in Hindi means "queen of aromas", which perfectly describes this variety of rice. You can recognize Basmati rice at first glance by its long grains, and also by its specific aroma and slightly nutty smell and taste.
Vilgain Basmati rice is processed and then packaged by a small family business in Italy that values the quality and traceability of its raw materials. Both each processing step and each batch of the resulting product are strictly controlled to meet all quality requirements. The rice is in BIO quality, which means that it was grown in organic farming and also always comes from one year's harvest.

Preparation instructions
Rinse the rice thoroughly with water, pour into a pot and add water. Add 2 cups of water for each cup of rice. Bring to a boil and add 1 teaspoon of salt. Cover the pot with a lid and let the rice cook over low/medium heat for 20-25 minutes. Do not remove the lid or stir the rice during the entire cooking time. After cooking, let the rice stand for 5 minutes and mix it gently with a fork. Serve in combination with soup, stew or curry.
