fresh, slightly bitter taste, from young tea leaves, contributes to better attention and mood

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Temple of Heaven's Gunpowder green tea is known for its slightly bitter taste with a subtle smoky undertone. Compared to other varieties, it has a medium to stronger aroma with a hint of freshly cut grass. It comes from China, where this type of tea has been grown and valued for its quality since the 7th century. Temple of Heaven represents a higher grade of this tea, traditionally rolled into tiny balls resembling gunpowder, which gave it its name.

Traditional processing for perfect taste

Our Gunpowder requires hand-harvested, high-quality young leaves that hardly undergo the oxidation process - this is stopped by drying, so that the leaves retain their bright green color and high content of essential oils. The still warm leaves are processed into solid balls using special machines, which protect their aroma and ensure a long shelf life. This process gives the tea its typical taste.

Less worries, more attention

Green tea is rich in natural substances, including polyphenols, vitamin C, vitamins B and K, minerals such as potassium, magnesium and fluoride, and amino acids including arginine and tyrosine. Vitamin C helps protect cells from oxidative stress. Green tea also naturally contains L-theanine, which gives it its characteristic taste and aroma. Coffee contains slightly less caffeine than black tea or coffee, but it still has more than enough of this stimulant to give you a boost in the morning and after lunch[1]. The latest research is on the support of vitamin C in the area of cardiovascular health[2] and the support of L-theanine in the area of mental health [3]. In other words, a cup of green tea can make your day more pleasant for you and those around you.

Recommended preparation

Use 7 g of tea per 500 ml of water at a temperature of 75–80 °C and steep for 1–3 minutes. For a combination with mint, the steeping time can be extended to up to 10 minutes.
For iced tea, use 7–10 g of tea, pour  with water at a temperature of 75–80°C, let steep for 10 minutes to half an hour and pour into a larger pitcher over ice. For extra refreshment, add lemon slices, lime or a few mint leaves.
